Interior design is more than picking out furniture and painting a wall. The goal at Walls of Distinction is to make your ideas come alive and provide you with a space that you will enjoy for years to come. 

 

Residential interior design services offered by Walls of Distinction

 

Blinds/window treatments (Graber photos)— We provide blinds and window treatments by Graber, focusing on beauty, energy efficiency, heat and humidity-resistance, child and pet safety, and motorized controls, also available for wide windows. Our process is to visit your home or office and:

 

  • Measure the door or window 

  • Consult with you to figure out what you want out of different types of window or door treatments

  • Bring in samples and color patterns for you to choose from

 

Once you've made your selections, we will send you an estimate for the window treatments. We will place your order at which time we collect half down in payment. 

 

We can install the blinds for you, or you can DIY if you prefer.

Kitchen cabinet colors-I help you coordinate wood grains or colored cabinets with all other kitchen elements in the kitchen. Including appliance color, countertops, light fixtures, flooring, hardware like pulls and handles, and paint colors. 

 

Countertops- Achieve the look you want by coordinating countertop colors and materials with the flooring and backsplash to make your kitchen look inviting. We will go shopping if you want a second set of eyes when choosing your countertop. 

 

Flooring- I will help you achieve a beautiful kitchen by coordinating flooring colors and materials with the countertops and backsplash to make it look complementary. We will go shopping for flooring with you if you want a second set of eyes.

 

Light fixtures- The kitchen should have layered lighting: ambient lighting, task, mood, depending on the work they are doing. I will help you coordinate the light fixture colors and materials, with the flooring, countertops, and backsplash to achieve just the right look. I will go shopping with you to help ensure you get the right lighting type for the room. 

 

Furniture and fabric selection- Your furniture selection depends on how much seating you want in a room. I will help you decide on a style, the room's functionality, and shop for the right furniture and accent pieces. Together we can pick out fabrics that coordinate and pull the entire room together, considering the carpeting, flooring, pillows, ottomans, chairs, sofa, woodwork, area rugs, and paint colors. We can also select accent tables (end, coffee, sofa), lamps, and other decor items that fit the room during this process.

 

Wall and art hangings- Art and mirrors should add beauty and draw you into a room. 

I can help you select the right sizes and types of art pieces for the room, change the height to be correct for proper viewing, hang in a grouping, or as a wall of pictures or arranged in a stairway if that's what you desire. 

 

Color consultation for painting- Not having the whole house one color is a good thing. I can help you choose the right colors for the right rooms and coordinate them to flow into each other naturally, so they don't chop up the house. I will coordinate colors with the current flooring, woodwork, and furniture.

Room update and coordination- Working together, we can give your rooms a new look with new furniture, flooring, window treatments, and decor arrangements or rearranging your current furniture and refresh the look with better lighting, wall decor with new artwork. 

 

Bathroom- I can help coordinate your bathroom flooring, countertop, and paint color with shower curtains, towels, and lighting fixtures. Some projects would require remodeling. 

 

Decor- You can change the decor to catch your eye and invite you into the room. By choosing the right lamps, wall decor, mirrors, plants, accent pieces, pillows, area rugs, a tray with plants, fireplace mantelpieces, you can add touches of who they are or what you enjoy to the room. By adding candles, boxes, and little visual decorations, you can make the room more welcoming and comfortable. Runners on the kitchen table, fruit in the basket, and other little features can grab your attention and make you feel at home.

 

Buying trips- When buying decor, I usually go on my own to choose items I think you'll like. I send pictures while I'm out shopping and will converse via email or text as I buy. I will then arrange the pieces I've chosen in your home. If I buy something you really like, we will add it to your design. The right piece in the right space might change the space completely. If I buy something and it doesn't fit, I will return it.

Residential exterior design- I help with color selection for painting the exterior, painting the front door, adding wood grain, and painting the shutters to coordinate. I can add curb appeal with architectural visual items like light fixtures, seating areas, privacy screens, chairs, and pillows to make a more attractive patio or front porch.

Commercial interior design services offered by Walls of Distinction

We can also pick out complementary pieces like tables and lamps to complete the look.

Interior design rates

 

  • I typically charge by the hour for specific projects. If your project is large and over an extended time, I can bill weekly increments to allow for proper bookkeeping. 

 

  • When charging for window treatments, we always provide an estimate and collect half down when we place the order. 

 

  • All shopping trips are charged by the hour and are between 2 and 3 hours long. 

 

  • All consultation is hourly.

 

  • For larger renovations or remodeling jobs, I will provide an estimate.

 

The hourly rate for all non-estimate projects is $75/hr.
